Curtiss-Wright Signs Development Contract For Boeing CH-147 Chinook Helicopter

Date: Monday 6th December 2010

To Supply Data Concentrator Units for Canadian Medium-to-Heavy Lift Helicopter

CHARLOTTE, NC - December 6, 2010 - Curtiss-Wright Controls, Inc. today announced the award of an 18-month contract with The Boeing Company to develop and supply data concentrator units for the CH-147 Chinook Medium to Heavy Lift Helicopter (MHLH) that is being developed for use by the Canadian Armed Forces.

"Curtiss-Wright is proud to support Boeing on this important helicopter system with our integrated sensing products," said David Adams, co-chief operating officer of Curtiss-Wright Corporation. "We are excited about the growth we continue to see in the helicopter market segment of our core military aerospace business."

Curtiss-Wright will develop and manufacture the DCU systems at its City of Industry, CA, facility, and ship the finished goods to Boeing, Philadelphia, PA. The contract will include aircraft production plus options. The initial contract runs through December 2011.

Curtiss-Wright's system consists of four data concentrator units (DCUs) per aircraft that will receive and provide various avionic and air vehicle discrete, digital and analog inputs for monitoring, passing through data and controlling various CH-147 subsystem components.

In addition to this new contract, Curtiss-Wright's Integrated Sensing division has been supplying the Boeing Company with various airborne products for over thirty-five years. These products include flight control equipment, fire protection equipment, flight data recording equipment and position sensors.

The CH-147 MHLH will enable the Canadian Forces to reach remote locations in a wider range of geographic areas and challenging environments inaccessible by ground-based transport or fixed-wing aircraft. With the Canadian Forces' increasing focus on joint operations and expeditionary forces, this capability will serve as a paramount asset in responding to disaster situations and terrorist attacks, both at home and around the world.
